Age Requirements

  • Age is determined as at Friday 1 November 2024

  • Minimum age for competition is 30 years

 

Age Divisions

  • 30-40, 41-45, 46-50, 51-55, 56-60, 61+

 

Event Divisions

  • Men and Women:

    • Cadet Class (Zero fights)

    • Combat Class Division (1-5 fights)

    • Open Division 6 + fights

Weight Divisions:

  • Bantamweight (50.1kg – 57.5 kg) – Female only 

  • Lightweight (57.51kg – 65.0 kg)

  • Welterweight (65.1kg – 72.5 kg)

  • Middleweight (72.51kg – 80.0 kg)

  • Cruiserweight (1kg – 87.5)

  • Heavyweight (87.5 kg – 95 kg)

  • Superheavyweight (95.1kg –102.5kg)

  • Openweight (102.5+)

 

Tournament Briefing

Thursday 31 October 6pm

Tournament briefing (for athletes and trainers): 6:00pm at the venue.

This is an informal briefing session for boxers and trainers by the Tournament Director and covers the tournament structure, trainer requirements and an opportunity for Q&A’s. Recommended, particularly for Cadet Class, but not compulsory.

Compulsory Weigh-In

Friday 1st November - all Boxers and Trainers

7:00am – 10:00am There will be a single compulsory weigh-in on the morning of the first day of the competition for all boxers, no exceptions. (Dehydration and resultant boxer collapse is one of the most dangerous aspects of the sport. A single weigh-in aims to eliminate this factor. Nominate your fighting weight from the start.)

Friday 1st November:

  • Session One: 1:00pm – 5:00pm

  • Session Two: 6:00pm – 10:00pm

Saturday 2nd November:

  • Session Three: 1:00pm – 5:00pm

  • Session Four: 6:00pm – 10:00pm

Sunday 3rd November:

  • Session Five: 12:00pm – 6:00pm

Doors open for spectators 30 minutes before the session start.

Tickets available at the door.

 

Boxers must be available all 3 days. Any requests to fight on a certain day/session or corner colour requests will not be considered.

Fees

Each competitor is required to pay the Games Fee once and then the Sport Fee for each sport in which they register.

Additional Information

  • All Boxers must be registered with Masters Boxing Australia (MBA). You will require an MBA membership number when completing your online entry into the event. Please note that MBA memberships are annual and fall due on January 1 each year. 2023 members need to renew their membership.

  • PPMG division winners will be awarded the PPMG Boxing Title.

  • All Boxers will compete as Masters Boxers

  • All Boxers will wear 16oz gloves. MBA Approved

  • Gloves and headgear will be provided. You can use your own headgear provided its open face and approved by the head gloving steward.

  • You will need a medical clearance (Fitness to Box) and serology results, both current within 12 months of 1st November 2024, red and blue singlet, cup protector and mouthguard.

  • Tournament Draw: Following the compulsory first weigh-in/medical, a tournament draw will be posted at about 11am on Thursday 10 November allowing for 1 pm start.

  • A doctor will be available at the Officials table 1 hour before the start of the 1st session each day. All boxers must be passed by the Doctor to fight.

  • Former Professional Boxers cannot compete at the PPMG if they have fought professionally within the last 12 months.

  • Trainers must be over the age of 18. Only one trainer will be allowed in the ring before, during, and after the bout.

  • Pan Pacific Masters Games Boxing bouts are judged using a professional and fair system based on international protocols. All decisions are final.

  • The competition is presented and organised by Masters Boxing Australia INC.

Boxers will need to complete the following forms to compete at PPMG.

MBA Registration Form – To register with Masters Boxing Australia please visit the Membership page at www.mastersboxingaustralia.com.au and complete and submit the form. New members click on new memberships. 2023 members click on Membership Renewals (note memberships are annual and fall due on January 1 each year).

Fitness to Box Form – completed by a Medical Practitioner not more than 12 months from the last day of competition. (This can also be completed via your MBA membership book).

Serology Form – Serology showing results not more than 12 months from the last day of competition. (This can also be completed via your MBA membership book).

Competition Rules

  • The multiple Men and Women Novice, Intermediate, and Open divisions will be following those within the Referee & Judges Manual.
